Something Yummy I Made: Valentine Wreath

I did it! I bought a heart shaped styrofoam at Jo-ann Fabric for $2.49. I had a yard of red and pink seersucker fabric I've had for years, some Elmer's glue and a pencil and Voila!
I saw a tutorial on some blog and made this wreath in less than an hour. I cut the fabric with a pinking shear and it gave the wreath some more depth. From far away, it looks like the wreath is made of rose petals. I love it, it is super cute on my front door.

Something Yummy: Valentine Wreaths

Valentines Day is just around the corner and I really want to make a cute heart wreath for my front door. There are so many cute do it yourself wreaths out there that I don't know which to choose. These are some inspirations that I found.

Something Yummy: Cupcake Fashions

How adorable are these cupcake papers from Bella Cupcake Couture
It''s Couture for your cupcakes.  I don't think cupcakes need any help in trying to make them look yummier by dressing it up in high fashion but it's still adorable and it would make me feel more special if I got a tasty cupcake wrapped in one of these.  These fabulous fashions are $12 for a package of 12.
The problem with couture is, it's expensive.  That's why I like knock-offs.  It's just as cute and best of all, you don't have buyers remorse.  Especially with cupcakes where the cupcake is devoured within seconds without really appreciating the beautiful paper it is wrapped in.  I love the papers that Bella Couture has to offer but I just can't fork over even a dollar when no one but me is going to care what the cupcake is dressed in.  That is why I decided to look in my pile of scrapbook paper leftovers and fashion my own eye candy.  Cut the paper to size, cut the top with decorative scissor, tape it with double sided tape and within 30 seconds, I have a one of a kind masterpiece couture!  You can decorate it more with ribbons and paper flowers and give it to someone special for any occasion.  But I'm really like a man when it comes to this-who cares what it's wearing, I don't want it to be too difficult to get to.  I just want to devour!

Something Yummy: Brownies with an Edge

For all those who love brownies with the soft gooey middle and a crunchy, chewy edge, this is the pan for you.  I think it's completely genius.   I am in love!  BakersEdge has a pan that allows every slice to have 2 edges.  Also, if you go on their website, they give you some really yummy looking brownie recipes.

Yummy Wear: H&M

I am so excited to announce the long awaited arrival of H&M in San Diego.  If you don't know what H&M is, it is pretty much a one stop shop for the entire family.  It's hip and it's cheap and you can pretty much incorporate pieces for everybody's style.  The San Diego store just open at the Otay Ranch Center last weekend.  I love getting layering pieces from there.  I can't get a way with wearing a lot of their clothes (because I'm just not that cool),but I especially love shopping there for my kids because it's cheap and not every kid is wearing it.  What ever you see in the fashion magazines you will get a knock-off at H&M.  The only sad thing about H&M is they don't have an online store.  That is why I am so excited we finally have one here in San Diego!

Yummy Cards: Handmade Mother's Day cards

How great would it be to receive one of these handmade cards for Mother's Day!  I make and sell cards and invitations as a way of supporting my habit of buying scrapbook supplies and I made these to sell for Mother's Day.  These two cards were my best sellers this year.  The "10 Reasons why I love you!" card has 10 strips of paper that you can write your reasons on. Everyone loves this card and I sell this card for every holiday.  I am currently working on my card blog to display my cards and invitations for clients.   I will post when it is up and running. In the meantime, I hope these cards will inspire you to make something special for your mothers and express to them how special they are.  Happy Mother's Day!

Something Yummy: for the soul and tummy

This Thursday, April 24th, there is a group of bars and restaurants in the San Diego area that are giving 25% of their profits for the day to AIDS research.  Click here for participating restaurants in San Diego.  This is a national effort too, so if you live elsewhere, the home page for Dining Out for life can direct you to whatever participating city is closest to you.  Check it out.  Enjoy a yummy meal and know that you just did a great thing!
